System Administrator

Arctic Portal is looking for a highly motivated system administrator. The applicant should be willing to explore the latest trends in the field and be comfortable in helping out clients and working in english speaking environment.

Main tasks:

• Maintenance of number of Linux servers.
• Manage the mail server.
• Maintain and backup MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• Regular backups.
• Network administration.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of Vmware.
• Experience in building & maintaining linux servers.
• Experience in handling databases and doing their backups.
• Comfortable in speaking english both in the office and dealing with clients.
• University degree in Computer Science is a bonus.
• Previous networking experience is a bonus.

The Arctic Portal is an non-profitable IT company, located in Akureyri, Iceland which specialises on outreach technologies and services (website design, web hosting and programmation, data management). Arctic Portal is also involved in numerous large arctic related European projects.
