Spatial Audio Software Engineer

We are seeking an audio software engineer with experience in developing audio software systems, particularly relating to spatial audio and/or game audio. You will participate in building our real-time spatial audio and virtual acoustics system. This system is set to disrupt the world of sound in virtual worlds, enabling previously unattainable accuracy and perceptual authenticity. You will join our highly interdisciplinary core engine team and work closely with our experts in acoustics, mathematical modeling, signal processing, software engineering machine learning, and geometry processing. The relevant background is important, but we also highly value people who are eager to learn and want to expand their skill sets.

You will be responsible for

● Designing and implementing various aspects of our spatial audio and virtual acoustics rendering system
● Developing real-time acoustic signal processing and spatial audio methods, e.g. ambisonics, impulse response processing and convolution techniques
● Integrating our rendering system into gaming engines and VR platforms
● Optimizing computational performance of audio processing algorithms
● Helping shape our product vision and strategy
● Participating in code reviews, as well as supporting and mentoring other team members
● Collaborating with experts in acoustics, audio, software, mathematical modeling, machine learning, geometry processing, cloud computing and signal processing

You will be great for this role if you

● BSc or MSc degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field, such as software engineering, computer science, acoustics, electrical engineering, etc
● Strong object-oriented programming skills with C++, preferably related to audio programming.
● Strong understanding of digital audio and audio software concepts
● Experience with digital signal processing
● Knowledge of acoustics, spatial audio and sound design
● Relevant work experience

If you also have experience with the following, this is a plus

● Leading game engines, such as Unity and Unreal
● Interest in virtual and augmented reality
● Knowledge of acoustic simulation
● Wwise, FMod, or other audio middleware.
● Multi-threaded programming / high-performance computing
● Mathematics and 3D geometry
● Python
● AI and machine learning
● Cloud computing concepts
● Knowledge of scrum, agile, git, project management
● Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
● Ability to work in cross-discipline and cross-culture teams
