Senior System Operations Engineer

Activity Stream is searching for an experienced system operations engineer to help us develop and support the operational infrastructure of our software systems. We currently run containers on a combination of bare-metal servers in dedicated hosting and cloud virtual machines in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and are migrating fully into the latter.

The ideal candidate has:

• Four years plus experience working in system operations.

• Detailed knowledge of Linux and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Experience with containers, version control, infrastructure as code, CI/CD systems and cloud computing.

• Ambition to continuously improve infrastructure and processes.

• Strong communication skills.

• At least basic knowledge of software development. Capable of writing code in scripting languages (e.g. for automating tasks).

• Team leadership experience or ambitions to gain such experience.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Ensuring the operational safety of our solution and infrastructure, as measured by availability, reliability and security.

• Responding to high-impact operational events.

• Making sure our infrastructure has sufficient monitoring to detect major operational issues as soon as possible.

• Following up after incidents to implement improvements.

• Organizing on-call shifts in the SysOps team.

• Managing external contractors working on SysOps related tasks.

• Maintaining reporting for SysOps related cost of services.

This is an on-premise position.
