Senior Python Developer

Travelshift is looking for a senior python developer to join its outstanding team in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Travelshift is the builder of Guide to Iceland, the most popular website in the world for tourism and travel services in Iceland. Guide to Iceland has received various official recognitions, such as for fast growth, and is commonly referred to as the most successful collaboration in the history of Icelandic tourism. The company is developing cutting-edge data-driven technology, starting with the recently launched site Guide To Europe, which is a groundbreaking Europe-wide travel platform offering complete vacations in one booking.

Our new team member will work collaboratively with all stakeholders and teams to understand end-user requirements to provide technical solutions and for the implementation of new software features.

Our team member would also be responsible for:
– Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code.
– Designing and implementing low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications.
– Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation.

What our new team member must have is…
– Solid and demonstrable Python experience in an enterprise setting.
– Experience with GCP or other cloud providers.
– Experience with infrastructure as code frameworks (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi).
– Good knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases.
– Good collaboration skills.

and it’s really nice if the team member has some or all of the following skills:
– Experience working with APIs (and creating their own).
– Experience working in a fast-paced, iterative software development environment.
– Experience working within an agile framework (e.g., Scrum).
– Familiarity with networking for micros-service architectures.
– Cybersecurity awareness.
