The Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Igloo, you will:
– Lead the design and implementation of Django API backends that power critical financial and real estate workflows.
– Build scalable, secure, and resilient systems that automate financial transactions, contract lifecycles, and electronic signing.
– Work in an AI-first environment, multiplying your impact through the use of AI agents, orchestration frameworks, and automated workflows.
– Collaborate with product and data teams to ensure APIs integrate seamlessly across financial, legal, and real estate platforms.
– Mentor and guide teammates toward agentic coding practices, embedding AI-first thinking into our engineering culture.

What We’re Looking For

• Django & Python Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of Django (ORM, DRF, middlewares, testing, migrations).
  • Solid experience with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling.
  • Proven track record of building secure, high-performance APIs.
  • Familiarity with Celery, event-driven architecture, and async processing.

• System Architecture

  • Strong experience in designing backend systems that scale.
  • Cloud-native deployment (AWS).
  • CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production-grade monitoring.

• AI-First Engineering Mindset

  • Daily use of AI tools in coding and system design (Copilot, GPT, custom agents).
  • Experience steering AI outputs into production-ready architectures.
  • Passion for designing agentic systems — workflows where AI and backend services collaborate.

• Security & Reliability Awareness

  • Familiarity with secure authentication, authorization, and data integrity.
  • Understanding of risks in AI-assisted code and strategies for mitigation.
