The PO will be a key member of the agile web development team responsible for developing RapidFish, a comprehensive web-based software suite for management of seafood production. Over 50 factories around the globe depend on RapidFish to manage their operations ranging from purchasing and order management, through manufacturing execution, to inventory and shipping. As we build on this foundation, our ambition is to play a leading role in the digital transformation of the seafood industry by providing innovative methods to store, connect, analyze, and enhance production data.

As a PO you will define and refine our user stories; prioritizing the backlog to streamline execution of product priorities while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of features for the team. In this capacity the PO remains highly available to the Dev teams during each sprint to answer real time questions and provide clarity to user stories. You will work closely with Product Management, who is responsible for market analysis, manages the Product Backlog and specifies feature requests for new customers. You will assess each new feature request, propose implementation alternatives, and establish estimates for development effort and launch timing for features to be developed. You will also build relationships with other stakeholders including customers, automation teams, sales, service, and project management.

The primary objectives of this role include:

  • Leads company-wide discussions related to product roadmap for future products and features in collaboration with sales & marketing product manager.

  • Communicates the vision and goals for the product area to key stakeholders.

  • Identifies new product concepts and brings these up to management for consideration or additional research.

  • Writes quality user stories that demonstrates an understanding of the user for development staff. Provides comprehensive acceptance criteria that is clear and testable.

  • Prioritizes all user stories of various types (bugs, features, reports, etc.) into a backlog

  • Attends sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming, standups and any other sprint process activity.

  • Works with developers and scrum masters on a daily basis for story refinement and questions.

  • Develops presentations of complex technical products in easy to understand terms for the organization, explaining sprint deliverables during bi-weekly sprint reviews.

  • Utilizes Agile and Scrum practices to deliver business value to the company.

  • Participates in project management meetings to share project progress, milestones, and delivery dates with stakeholders.

  • Collaborates with UI/UX to establish methods to gather customer feedback early and often.

  • Elicits and follows up on customer feedback to ensure the integration of the customers’ voice into new features.

  • In consultation with development staff and management, attempts to minimize new technical debt and remove technical debt when possible.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant Product Management, Product Owner, Business Analyst, and System Analyst or Architecture/Software Engineer experience in an agile software product development environment.

  • 2 years’ experience in delivering software with Agile Scrum methodologies and other commonly used tools.

  • Ability to facilitate technical conversations and translate those into concise user stories with strategic business benefits including the ability to write concisely and clearly for different audiences.

  • Ability to split problems into multiple smaller parts while still working towards a larger solution.

  • Proven track record to connect effectively and efficiently with management as well as technical and non-technical audiences while employing a high degree of collaboration and influence.

  • Strong business analytical skills with the capability of identifying, analyzing, synthesizing product use data.

  • Scrum Product Owner certification (CSPO) preferred.
