The company is leading a large-scale research study looking at the human genome to examine the relationship between genetics, health and disease.

Job purpose

Information and data are at the core of the organization’s operations. We are looking for a capable IT Infrastructure engineer, who enjoys working on complex systems including both physical infrastructure (networking, server infrastructure) as well as Cloud based infrastructure. This individual will require both deep and wide expertise in the Infrastructure space and systems engineering. In this role you will support and optimize systems on a day to day basis while working on more long-term company objectives to make our systems and Infrastructure more secure by protecting system boundaries, keeping computer systems and network devices fully patched and up-to-date.

Duties and responsibilities

• Identify and define system Infrastructure and networking requirements for onsite and cloud systems adhering to best industry practices

• Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols

• Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices (Cloud Based infrastructure, physical networking, Firewalls, Security appliances, computer systems)

• Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks

• Ensure that the company knows as much as possible, as quickly as possible about system and security incidents

• Work closely with Security and development teams providing guidance and infrastructure expertise on projects.

• AWS services, application and network configuration and administration.

• Working with development teams to ensure AWS oriented application design and implementation.

• Contribution to and enforcement of technical standards and best practices.

• Technical investigation and problem resolution for AWS-based solutions.

• Creating and maintaining technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum) or equivalent in Computer Science.

• AWS Certifications to Professional level.

• Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar IT infrastructure role

• Preferred Experience

• Direct experience with firewalls, routers, switches, public cloud

• Experience in designing secure networks, systems and application architectures for Enterprise.

• Must have hands-on experience with Networking services in AWS Cloud (VPC/DirectConnect/VPNs/TransitGateway)

• Experience managing Microsoft AD environments.

• Knowledge of disaster recovery, technologies and methods.

• Experience in building and maintaining infrastructure systems

• Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools

• Experience of Palo Alto firewalls and networking desirable

• Experience managing and supporting Public Key Encryption in Microsoft/Linux environments.

• Professional experience in a system administration role supporting multiple platforms and applications.
