Full Stack PHP Developer

The Full Stack Developer will be a key member of the agile web development team responsible for developing RapidFish, a comprehensive web-based software suite for management of seafood production.  Over 50 factories around the globe depend on RapidFish to manage their operations ranging from purchasing and order management, through manufacturing execution, to inventory and shipping.  As we build on this foundation, our ambition is to play a leading role in the digital transformation of the seafood industry by providing innovative methods to store, connect, analyze, and enhance production data. 

Valka is looking for a PHP developer with 3-5 years of experience in full-stack programming who is passionate about bringing Industry 4.0 to reality within the international seafood sector. The successful candidate will join an agile team composed of front end, back end and full-stack developers that will build the next generation of software to manage seafood production. The developer shares responsibility with the web development team from concept to commercial use and works in collaboration with project managers, embedded software engineers, mechanical engineers, sales & marketing staff, as well as customers.

Responsibilities

• Software development with an agile team

• Design, implement, test, and deploy software for Valka’s trading and manufacturing execution system.

• Collaborate with product owner, developers, customers, project managers and sales team to understand needs and contribute to user stories. Contribute to time and budget estimates

• Support efforts to improve interface design, user experience and system architecture including an interface between javascript and PHP.

• May include occasional travel to customer sites related to pre- and post-launch activities for new releases

• Help translate market and customer requirements into new product ideas for future development

• Support composition of product documentation and instructions

• Continuous learning and maintenance of technical know-how

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline preferred

• Responsible, reliable team player that enjoys working in a collaborative agile environment

• Ability to create well structured, easy to maintain software solutions along with automated testing

• Ability to write clear documentation, development plans and other forms of written correspondence.

Experience

• Experience developing PHP web applications

• Experience in integration of data storage solutions (MySQL)

• Established track record launching software solutions in demanding industry environments is preferred

• Software architecture experience is preferred
