Data Platform Engineering Manager

Location: Our office in Urðarhvarfi 6, 203 Kópavogur
Pollard Digital Solutions (PDS) is looking for a technically proficient Data Platform Engineering Manager with experience in cloud based data platform architecture designs. In this role, you will lead our data engineering team, ensuring the successful implementation, maintenance, and optimization of data pipelines, workflows and technology orchestration. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand their requirements and deliver data solutions that support their objectives.
What You’ll Do
• Leadership and Team Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the
data platform team, managing their performance, professional growth, and motivation.
• Data Pipeline Development: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and efficient data pipelines using AWS cloud tools and Informatica IICS.
• Source and Target Integration: Oversee the integration of data from source systems to AWS Redshift as the target database, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data throughout the pipeline.
• Data Transformation and Integration: Collaborate with the team to develop ETL processes and workflows to transform and consolidate data into a unified format suitable for analysis and reporting.
• Data Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce data quality standards and monitoring processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data across the pipeline.
• AWS Cloud Infrastructure: Optimize the AWS cloud infrastructure, including sizing, scaling, and resource management, to ensure high availability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and fine-tune the data pipelines, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and optimizing query performance in Redshift.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide technical expertise and guidance.
• Reporting and Visualization: Enable data analysis and reporting using AWS Quicksight, ensuring the delivery of insightful and actionable reports and visualizations to stakeholders.
• Documentation and Best Practices: Create and maintain technical documentation, including data pipeline specifications, configurations, and best practices, to ensure knowledge sharing and system integrity.

What You´ll Need
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on using cloud services and Informatica IICS.
• Knowledge of cloud tools is desirable, preferably AWS tools, with experience in designing and deploying data pipelines in the cloud.
• Proficiency in Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) for data integration and management or other comparable data integration and management tools..
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools, particularly AWS Quicksight, for delivering insightful reports and visualizations to stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a team of data engineers.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness and drive to explore and adopt new technologies.
• Experience in working in a product-driven organization environment.
• Previous experience in agile environment is a plus.
• Solid English skills, both written and spoken.
